Diary Entry Day 40
Slow day in Ireem. I watched the Countess Page ride a white steed and mingled in the market square. She complained of pickpockets and I must agree pickpockets seem to be roaming in large numbers. I have learned to keep my purse light.
Sad day for me.. I was standing around the Knights area looking at those smexy Knights when Aizem came looking for me. I thought he was upset I was out alone. No such luck. He was very mad for I had missed the dancing the Harem was to do after the fights. He took this as a personal insult to him before the Sultana. I tried to explain, but he was in no mood for excuses. I was marched out in to the dessert and stripped. I held a pillar while he severely lashed me. I cried out in pain for mercy, but he was steadfast. I was sent back to the Harem naked! I ran as fast as I could, red with shame and embarrassment, back to the Harem and soaked in the baths crying for hours.
Diary Entry Day 41
I am now a mer. That is a Mermaid. Many attended a formal ceremony where me and Gabriel became Mer. Sunceray, Queen of the Mer people, called the Gods to transform me and called the ancients to hold me fast as I was transformed. It is most painful as my bones broke and skin peeled off my body to be replaced with Mermaid fins and scales. No one can say what you will look like. Deformed or completed. I became golden like my hair. Blessed and smiled upon by the Gods with broad golden fins and a tail of exquisite beauty. Oh bless the Gods and Sunceray for her skill and wisdom. I now have a family in Ireem.

Transformed to Mermaid
Diary Entry Day 44
I am in the Palace at Countess Page's desk. I look over my shoulder repeatedly, cautious for many reasons. I write quickly and will not name names should my diary fall into the wrong hands. The Palace is in turmoil. Rumors of evil plots are rampant in the streets. Men are taking up arms, and girls from all stations are disappearing. It is said bad men plot to overthrow the Palace and slavers have vowed to take every, and any, girl they can sell. I fear for myself , my sisters and the Palace Court. As I write Alliances are forming to protect us, but I cannot help but to be afraid. Will they act soon enough to save us?
Diary Entry Day 45
My owner captured a small male Djinn and is keeping him for herself. I am ashamed to say I am bit jealous, but will make every effort to adjust.
I am visibly shaking by a past event that reoccurs to haunt me. I was asked by my owner to help her buy a man from the auction block (to save him from slavery). It was the same man who abused me on my first few days in Ireem (see day 8). I was reluctant to help him and this of course had to be explained. When I told the truth my Sun was livid and stormed me, and the new slave, back to the city across the sands. I was commanded to kneel, and she rarely wants me kneeling, so I knew she was dead serious, I was commanded to repeat out very loudly, "I would never allow such a thing again", and if it were to happen she would kill them a thousand times. I have never seen her so upset before.
Diary Entry Day 46
I watched the men spar. The new guard was fighting all comers. He took off his shirt to fight, Oh My! He is huge under those cloaks with a commanding presence. I have seen him confront the slavers before and he is not afraid in the least. I know the girls are safer with him around.
Diary Entry Day 47
The slavers are at it again. They grabbed Jaz, the bath house girl, and locked her up. Milly, a Knight of honor, came to her rescue and beat the slaver up good. While they were fighting, Jaz and I worked together to pop the lock and free her.
I met a new merman today named Glin. He was away for along time and came back. Sun, Glin and I played in the water splashing. It was so much fun. I told him my name was O not Othel, because people are calling me that. Then Mistress said O was a bubble and called me bubbles. If it catches on I will be called bubbles; I will die of embarrassment. I balked about it and she said sternly, "Your name is Othel not O and don't use O again". I get in trouble for smallest things. Will I ever learn?
Dairy Entry Day 49
Joy Joy Joy Suncery told Rachel to take me shopping. Whoohoo I love new things. They are so good to me!
